We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo....how about You?

Last week, Brian was lucky enough to score FREE tickets to the zoo from one of his co-workers. We were set to go on Saturday BUT a little trip to Urgent Care changed our plans. So today, despite morning rain and gloomy skies, we packed up our lunches, sunscreen, camera, bug spray and off we went.
I must add an aside here, how old is too old for strollers? We saw many children, who appeared to be older than Claire(who looks older than SHE is) in strollers? Yes toward the end(as you will see) she was DONE when it came to walking but shouldn't you as a parent know your child's limit and when they hit it, leave? I don't know, maybe I just look at it differently....

Not really sure what is going on in this picture.
Claire is anti-camera lately but that does NOT explain what I am doing.....

ROCK.....no RHINO ;-)

Pointing out some Zebra's
Claire was so cute here. She is really beginning to interact with others now. A little boy walked up and stood next to her. He said to his mom "Look, Zebra's" and in the most matter of fact voice, Claire looks at him and says "Yup, they're Zebras." It was so cute....

Feeding Mr. Giraffe, poor Daddy just missed her handing over the leaves.

Totally majestic animals aren't they?

Picnic lunch time :-)

Glaring Claire
Her new favorite face.

Yup, that's me....riding a camel.
Her name was Red :-)

Monkey in the middle.....heehee.

Our Oriole

hoppin' it!

Super slider

Turtle face

I have to say, that's a pretty decent picture
centered and everything. Not bad, Daddy!!
Of course, one more thing would have made it perfect but.....

Hitting the end....

Not 10 minutes into the ride home.
She had so much fun!

Just a funny story to share along with this post. While we were at the Polar Bear exhibit, Claire totally captivated an older couple. The bears were lounging around, panting because of the heat. For the entire trip, she has been talking about what she would do when she is a zookeeper(do not get excited, her future profession changes daily) Anyway, she starts saying: "Mommy, when I am a zookeeper girl, I'm gonna go right in there with the polar bears and show them how to go in the water. They can be cooler in the water." That's the extent to which I remember but she had the couple captivated, they kept looking over at her and smiling. Also during the trip she was very interested in the plaques(she called them maps) that tell you about the animals. She wanted us to read each one to her. If she wanted to know what a certain animal ate and we did not know she would say: "Let's check the map Mommy." I Love how curious she is!!

As daycare comes to a close......

As the final year with Grandma Barbara comes to a close, we continue to be truly grateful for all that she has done for Claire over the past 3 years. Claire and Mason had experiences in daycare that most children will never have.
AND we as parents get a look into our child's day via texts and pictures, which definitely does not happen!!
We will forever be grateful Grandma Barbara for the love, nurturing and adventure that you have given Claire over the past 3 years <3

May have posted this one already but definitely
one of my favorites!!

Doll Housing in Storyville!

B & O Train Museum

Choo Choo!

Another favorite shot!

Getting an in depth look into
the life of a worm.

These next two pictures are so funny!
Not sure what is going on or why they are lying on someones walk
BUT Claire has such a "Oh, Whoa Is Me" look about her.

More playground fun.

This one will FOREVER be a favorite.
The look on Mason's face is PRICELESS!
"She's MINE!"

Summer heat and record temperatures in May!
Water+Heat = FUN!

Not entirely sure why but apparently
dumping water OUT of the pool is much more fun
than keeping it IN the pool.

Taking a break from all the fun :-)

An Official Library Card Carrier

Today, Claire became an official Library card carrier!! We traveled to our favorite branch this afternoon, in search of her latest favorite book "Llama, Llama, Red Pajama!" as well as to sign up for her card AND register her for the summer reading program. We LIVE at the library all summer so it only seemed fair that Claire start being a responsible member as well. She was THRILLED, especially since she got to sign her card herself. I have a feeling we will be there even more than usual this summer :-)

She was SO excited that she borrowed
TEN BOOKS, herself!
Her latest favorites are Fancy Nancy, Little Critter
and of course DORA!

"Mommy, look! I writed my name!"

She even spelled it out as she wrote it.
Too cute for words :-)
